Choosing the perfect motorcycle jacket requires considering riding styles (sport, touring, urban, or vintage), weather conditions (summer, winter, or all-season), and personal preferences. Opt for jackets made from advanced technical materials that offer protection from impacts and abrasion while maintaining comfort through breathability and thermal insulation. Consider leather options for style and durability, or technical fabrics like Gore-Tex® or D-Dry® for waterproofing and breathability.

A motorcycle jacket must ensure safety and comfort, fitting the rider's body without hindering movement. It should be snug enough to keep the protection in place but not too tight, allowing for the use of additional thermal layers. Ensure that the protections on shoulders, elbows, and back are certified and well-positioned, and that the jacket does not create pressure points or discomfort during riding. The motorcycle jacket should be snug to ensure that the protections remain in place and provide the best possible safety. However, it should also allow complete freedom of movement and have space for additional thermal clothing if necessary. The snug fit prevents wind flapping and maintains the garment's design integrity, ensuring that the safety and comfort features

When choosing a motorcycle jacket, it's essential to focus on certified protections that guarantee safety without compromising comfort. Protections on the shoulders and elbows are standard, but don't forget the importance of back protection. A recommended option is the Pro-Armor 2.0 back protector, known for its lightness, breathability, and flexibility, providing optimal protection without obstructing movement. The European standard EN17092:2020 regulates the certifications for technical motorcycle jackets and trousers. This standard introduces an intuitive letter system, visible on product labels, to assess abrasion resistance, tear strength, and seam solidity.

Class A garments, also known as "lightweight," offer less protection compared to AA (mediumweight) and AAA (heavyweight). Classes B and C focus respectively on impact protection and abrasion resistance. For instance, a motorcycle jacket without internal protections might be categorized as Class C, while one with integrated protections but made from lightweight materials could be classified as Class B.

A significant innovation is the vest with an integrated airbag system, such as the Dainese Smart Jacket, which incorporates the D-air® technology airbag. This technology, initially developed for MotoGP™ riders, provides superior protection for the back and chest, comparable to the effectiveness of 7 traditional back protectors put together. The Smart Jacket can be worn over or under any motorcycle jacket, is lightweight, water-resistant, and ventilated, making it ideal for all seasons.

Measure your chest and compare it with the size guides attached to each product, considering space for thermal clothing if you plan to ride in cold conditions. The fit should allow free movement without being too loose.

For technical fabric jackets like GORE-TEX® and D-Dry®, wash them in lukewarm water (max 30°C) with neutral soap without fabric softener, avoiding solvents and abrasives. Remove padding and protections, close zippers and Velcro to prevent damage to the fabrics. Dry away from direct light and heat sources. For leather jackets, Dainese offers a regeneration service that includes special cleaning, nourishing treatment for the leather, and safety seam review. Remember to gently clean with a soft cloth to remove dirt or insects, and use the Dainese Leather care KIT to keep the leather soft and hydrated. Always follow the garment label instructions for mixed material care.
